The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will host the seventh edition of the biennial association football competition known as the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship, which will include national teams made up of players who are currently competing in their respective local leagues. The tournament’s current iteration will take place in Algeria from January 13 until February 4, 2023.

Following a video-conferenced executive committee meeting on September 10, 2020, CAF rescheduled the competition from 10 July to 1 August 2022 to January 2023, citing the postponement of the 2020 African Nations Championship to 2021 and the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa as well as the already-scheduled 2022 FIFA World Cup in November–December 2022.
